Jay Bijou is a decorated disabled veteran with a distinguished history of national defense and collaboration with law enforcement. He holds a law degree and has formal training in Conflict Resolution, equipping him to tackle challenges thoughtfully and effectively.
Committed to giving back, Jay volunteers at a food bank and supports various community projects, demonstrating his dedication to neighbors and local families. As a candidate for town commissioner, he focuses on safe walkways, smart growth, and fiscal responsibility—bringing practical, community-first leadership to strengthen neighborhoods, support families, and empower local businesses.
I will make safe, accessible walkways a top priority — ensuring Cape Carteret residents, families, and visitors can easily walk, bike, or stroll with their pets to our parks, waterfront, and recreation areas. Everyone, from kids to seniors, should be able to enjoy our town’s natural beauty safely and comfortably.
I will work to keep taxes low by actively pursuing grants, state and federal funding, and other responsible revenue sources — including creating our own ZIP code — to help fund vital infrastructure and public safety improvements without burdening local taxpayers.
