Hi, I’m Rachelle
I’m a parent, business owner, and advocate for strong public schools who believes students thrive when classrooms are supported, educators are respected, and communities work together. My family chose to make Harford County home because we value strong public education, engaged families, and a community that cares deeply about its children.
I have also seen the incredible commitment of the teachers, support staff, and school leaders who work every day to help students succeed. Their dedication and expertise are essential to strong schools, and they deserve leadership that listens, respects their professional insight, and supports them in the important work they do.
As a parent of two neurodiverse sons, I have spent many hours working with teachers, specialists, and school leaders to support their educational journeys. Through those experiences, I have seen firsthand the dedication of our educators and the difference that thoughtful support and collaboration can make for students and families. These experiences have also given me a deep appreciation for the challenges many families navigate and the important role schools play in helping every child reach their potential.
Like many parents, I want my children and every child in our community to feel supported, challenged, and inspired in their classrooms. Our schools should be places where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow.
Professionally, I bring experience in operations and financial leadership, helping organizations strengthen budgeting practices, improve performance, and solve complex challenges through thoughtful planning and collaboration. That work has taught me the importance of listening carefully, asking good questions, and working with others to find practical solutions. I believe strong public institutions require both responsible stewardship of resources and thoughtful investment in the people and programs that help communities thrive.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Anthropology, which deepened my interest in how communities and institutions work together to support families. That perspective continues to shape how I think about education and public service.
Outside of work and community involvement, my focus is on family life here in Harford County supporting my children, staying engaged in our community, and working alongside others who care deeply about the future of our schools.
I am running for the Harford County Board of Education because I believe strong schools require thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and a steady focus on what matters most: helping every student succeed.

My Key Issues
Class Sizes
I believe one of the most important issues facing our schools is staffing stability and ensuring classrooms are properly supported. Students learn best when classrooms are stable, educators are supported, and students receive consistent instruction and support. As the parent of children in the public school system, including a son with significant special education needs, I have seen firsthand how difficult it becomes for educators to meet every student’s needs when classrooms are overcrowded and support resources are stretched too thin. Addressing this issue requires responsible budgeting, educator retention efforts, transparency, and continued investment in classroom instruction and student support services.
Fiscal Responsibility & Accountability
As a business owner and financial professional, I understand the importance of responsible budgeting, transparency, and accountability when overseeing public resources. Strong financial oversight helps ensure funding is directed toward classrooms, student support services, educator retention, and long-term student success.
Transparency & Community Trust
Strong schools require trust and open communication between families, educators, administrators, and school leadership. I believe Board decisions should be transparent, professional, and focused on building confidence within the community.
Academic Foundations & Career Readiness
Students deserve strong foundational instruction in reading, writing, math, critical thinking, and practical life skills. Schools should help prepare students for a variety of successful futures, including college, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, and workforce opportunities.
Student Mental Health & Support Services
Students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. Expanding access to mental health resources, counseling support, early intervention, and student services can help students navigate challenges before they become larger barriers to learning, well-being, and long-term success.
Special Education & Student Advocacy
As the parent of a child with significant special education needs, I understand firsthand how important strong support systems, communication, and resources are for students and families. Every student deserves meaningful opportunities to succeed in an environment where they feel supported and valued.
