Being true to Navassa's motto: People Working for People
I’m a father, mentor, and 20-year Army veteran with a passion for coaching youth. For over two decades, I've coached basketball at all levels, helping young athletes develop perseverance, academic focus, and strong character. My teams have won three state championships, four players became All-Americans, and 60% of my players continued their education beyond high school. Through my programs, I also teach conflict resolution and leadership, helping youth grow into successful individuals on and off the court.
I’ve also spent over 10 years as a classroom instructor, guiding students toward reaching their full potential. Whether in the military, schools, or on the basketball court, I’ve always dedicated myself to shaping others' futures.
My leadership philosophy is grounded in discipline, sacrifice, strategy, and empathy. I lead by example, setting the tone for others to rise. Now, I’m ready to bring that same commitment, leadership, and heart to serve as your mayor. Leadership is about action, not titles, and I’m here to elevate our town by helping others achieve their hopes and dreams.
Navassa’s prosperity depends on fostering economic growth that benefits all residents. I will support small businesses and local entrepreneurs by pushing for grants and incentives to boost job creation. We must also ensure that growth doesn't come at the expense of affordability. I’ll focus on creating a variety of affordable housing options that will help long-time residents stay in Navassa while welcoming newcomers to our growing community.
A strong, connected town starts with modern infrastructure. I will work to improve our roads, water systems, and internet access to ensure every neighborhood has the resources it needs to thrive. I’ll also prioritize enhancing public transportation options, both within Navassa and to nearby regions like Wilmington, to ensure that everyone can get where they need to go efficiently. Navassa's connections to WAVE Transit should be restored.
The safety and well-being of our residents are my top priorities. I’ll ensure our law enforcement and emergency services are well-funded and supported, focusing on community policing to build trust. At the same time, I’ll advocate for better healthcare access, including mental health services, and promote public health programs that address wellness, fitness, and preventive care for all ages.
Though Navassa doesn’t have schools, it’s vital that we invest in youth programs and community engagement to ensure that our young people have opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. I will support after-school initiatives, mentorship programs, and career-readiness efforts. I’ll also foster a transparent government that encourages civic participation, hosting regular town halls and making sure every resident has a voice in our future.
Navassa’s growth must be sustainable and considerate of our natural environment close to the Cape Fear River. I will advocate for eco-friendly development, protecting our green spaces, and addressing issues like flooding with forward-thinking policies. Our zoning laws must support responsible growth and balance economic development with environmental preservation to ensure Navassa remains a beautiful, vibrant place to live for generations to come.
