Vote For Lenwood Ward Wilson City Council District 7

Local Solutions, Not Party Politics

My Bio

I am a District 7, (East) Wilson citizen. Born and raised. I have been advocating for District 7 for years. My mom, family and friends still live in this District. So the issues and problems in some parts of District 7 are personal to me. I am a veteran, a proven leader, I believe in selfless service, integrity, working with and for all citizens. I presently serve on several boards and committees in Wilson, for years. I am very familiar with the issues in District 7. I am familiar with the past history of East Wilson, District 7. I didn't just start addressing and solving some issues in my District. I believe in being proactive, not just reactive. I have a vision, for the betterment of District 7. But I can't do it alone. As my friend, mentor, Mr. Robert (Bob) Smith would say. It takes a Village. But a Village needs a leader for its citizens. And I want to be that leader for you. For us. For East Wilson. District 7. I need your vote. Let's work together

My Key Issues

Housing

I'm a strong advocate against landlords raising rent, double what it was. I believe in low income and affordable housing. A mixed neighborhood of both. Citizens should not have to choose between food, medicines or rent

Youth violence prevention:

Youth Violence and Drug overdose is a big problem in my District. I would have a forum to communicate with young people in gangs. Young people being bullied. I would love to start a mentor/leadership program. I would go to where the people are and have a conversation. As I have done in the past

Aging and Senior Services

I am a firm believer that our seniors should not have to choose between eating, medicine and paying rent. They have paid into the system and our communities. After working for so many hours, raising kids and grandkids, paving a pathway for others. They should be able to enjoy their senior years.

A cleaner community

I want to educate citizens on the city ordinance. So they will know blowing leaves, debris, trash into the storm water drain is not what we should do. It causes flooding. Putting couches on the porch is not a good look for the community. Uncut grass, abandoned vehicles, trash cans left near the curb after pick up. These things are not a good look for our community. And under city ordinance, you can be fined. Again, education first.

Boarded up houses

Pass an ordinance for boarded up houses, if there isn't one. A standard of how to board up vacate houses with boards to keep out citizens doing drugs and overdosing. Homeless citizens taken refuge to get out of the cold. Setting fires to stay warm and mistakenly setting the house on fire. Creating property damage, possibly loss of life and putting 1st responders at risk.

Gun violence

I would have a meeting with the police captain of my District. Identify problem areas. I would request more police presence in those areas. I also believe in a community being responsible for the betterment of itself. I would like to create community watch, to speak directly with me and create community based solutions. For our community, by it's citizens. Have a Meet and Greet with police and citizens to form a better citizens, police relationship.

Drug overdoses

Partner with the EMS crew who's already at the forefront of meeting drug users where they are. Provided much needed Norcain, treatment information and treating our sometimes forgotten citizens, as citizens. The 1st responders I have personally witnessed continue to be a catalyst in drug overdoses. Identify problem areas.
