Recommitting Berkeley to the Will of the People

A safer, more transparent, and more accountable Berkeley where every resident belongs and every voice matters.

WHY I'M RUNNING

Berkeley is a city with a proud history of activism, innovation, and community leadership. Yet too many residents feel disconnected from the decisions that shape our neighborhoods and daily lives.

I'm running for Berkeley City Council because I believe government should listen before it decides, explain before it acts, and remain accountable after the vote.

As a public servant, educator, advocate, and community leader, I have spent my career building partnerships, solving problems, and creating opportunities for people who have historically been left out of the conversation.

I am running to ensure Berkeley remains a city that values transparency, public safety, community well-being, civil liberties, and economic opportunity for everyone.

Together, we can build a Berkeley that works for all of us.

MY PRIORITIES

Safer Communities Through Prevention

Invest in proven violence prevention programs, support survivors, and address rising assaults through evidence-based solutions.

Accountability & Transparency

Strengthen civilian oversight, restore trust in government, and ensure public institutions remain accountable to residents.

Protecting Privacy & Sanctuary Values

Defend civil liberties, protect immigrant communities, and pursue public safety solutions that respect privacy and constitutional rights.

Thriving Small Businesses

Support local entrepreneurs, revitalize commercial corridors, and create vibrant neighborhood business districts.

Food Security & Community Well-Being

Protect access to healthy food, strengthen community resources, and support programs that help families thrive.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT

This campaign belongs to the people of Berkeley.

Whether you volunteer, host a neighborhood conversation, place a lawn sign, donate, or simply share our message, your support makes a difference.

KJ's vision is simple:

A Berkeley where government works for the people, public institutions earn community trust, and every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

My Key Issues

Safer Communities Through Prevention

Public safety requires more than enforcement. We must invest in prevention, intervention, and community partnerships that reduce violence before it occurs.

Accountability and Transparency

Residents deserve a government that communicates clearly, follows through on commitments, and remains accountable to the people it serves.

Protecting Privacy and Civil Liberties

We can improve public safety without sacrificing privacy, constitutional rights, or community trust.

Defending Berkeley's Sanctuary Values

Berkeley has long been a leader in protecting vulnerable communities. I will work to ensure our policies match our values.

Supporting Small Businesses

Local businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods. We must support entrepreneurs, activate vacant storefronts, and strengthen commercial districts.

Food Security and Community Well-Being

Access to healthy food, healthcare, and community resources should not depend on income or zip code.

Inclusive Community Engagement

Residents should have meaningful opportunities to participate in decisions that affect their neighborhoods and quality of life.
