I am the proud parent of a blended family of 5 children and am honored to be the Momo to my grandson. My husband Brian is a combat vet who proudly served in the Army until injury forced him out. I have worn many hats as a civilian employee and a government employee. My educational background is in forensics, using my love of history and learning. I am a proud graduate of Northland High School in CCS. I have lived the majority of my life in Columbus OH. I lived in Texas for about 15 years before coming back home to Ohio in 2020. I jumped into politics when our 12 year old son found his own voice to speak out about issues within CCS, speaking directly to the superintendent and Board members. Seeing him speak up for himself and his fellow students opened my eyes to the need to speak my own truth instead of always complaining to my family and friends about the current state of affairs. I bring passion, kindness and love to all things. I try to live my life with these three questions:
Will it hurt me?
Will it hurt others?
Will it destroy property?
If the answer is 'No' then do the thing. These are very Libertarian values.
As the Ohio House Representative for District 6, I will focus on education reform and choice. I will work to change how education is funded starting with following the recommendations put forth in the Fair School Funding Plan. I will work to remove mandates for CNP schools transportation by public school districts. I will work to reshape EdChoice and EdChoice+ to ensure equity in funding. I will work with ALL schools to ensure Ohio is the example of education and innovation.
I will work to end property taxes that unfairly tax property owners and remove the imbalance of tax payers funding more while tax abatements favor corporations who fail in their promises. Ohioians deserve a say in how their money is spent.
I will work to reshape current laws that unfairly punish people for low level crime, choosing instead for a whole person approach to reduce crime. Too often, our jails and prisons are overburdened with non-violent criminals who would benefit from rehabilitation services. Prison and jails should be reserved for violent offenders. Many low level crimes are more a mental health crisis as opposed to truly criminal crisis. Current laws and policy disproportionately affect POC and low income individuals. The scales of Justice need balance.
